The school administration headed by Principal landed in the school campus on 11 Feb 2018 only. The students started to report to school from 15 Feb 2018 onwards. VISIT OF PATRONMaj Gen B S Raju, AVSM, YSM, GOC CIF (V) and Patron of school paid visit to school on 18 Feb 2018 to assess the situation on ground. Patron was received by Brig Balbir Singh, Chairman SMC and Mr Ketan Shah, Principal. The Patron, took stock of developmental projects and visited various blocks of campus. The Patron addressed and chaired a special meeting of SMC and faculty members of school, wherein, he lauded the role being played by SMC and School Administration. Patron expressed his satisfaction over the available facilities for the children.EXTRAMARKS TEACHERS TRAININGA Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for digitalisation of Army Goodwill Schools of J & K was signed between officials of Power Grid Corporation of India, Extramarks Education Foundation and members of Governing Body of Army Goodwill Schools on 29 Jan 2018. Brig Rajeev Thapar, Brig (Info & Sys) 15 Corps signed on behalf of AGS Governing Body; Dr J S Chauhan, Chief Manager (HR) Power Grid Corporation of India on behalf of PGCI and Mrs Ponam Singh Jamwal, CEO Extra Marks on behalf of Extramarks Education Foundation. Under the MOU AGPS Pahalgam was selected to be equipped with 13 x SmartClasses and 130 tabs. Soon the process of implementation started. The setup was installed successfully during the first half of Feb 2018. The training of teachers help them familiarize with cutting edge technology was conducted on 19th and 20th Feb 2018 by Mr Umar, Extramarks Foundation. FEEDBACK ON BASIC ALPINE SNOW SKIING COURSE HELD AT ARU PAHLAGAM CONDUCTED BY JAWAHAR INSTITUTE OF MOUNTAINEERING AND WINTER SPORTS PAHALGAM (21 FEB – 05 MAR 2018)Nine students and one teacher of AGPS Pahalgam participated in Basic Alpine Snow Skiing Course conducted at Aru Valley by Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports Pahalgam. The snow-clad slopes of Aru Valley proved to be fertile ground for learning the adventurous sport Skiing. Participating students of AGPS showed utmost dedication and commitment during the course and brought laurels to the entire AGPS family. Master Zaid Nazir of Class –VII bagged first position in Slalom. Master Shah Arsalan of Class-VII won consolation prize. Master Master Sheikh Azrar of Class-VII was judged as the Best Student (Discipline). COMMENCEMENT OF FULL EXAMINATION ENVIRONMENT PRACTICE TEST Keeping in view the forthcoming CBSE board examinations which were commencing from 05 Mar 2018 Full Examination Environment Practice Test were organised for the students from 02 March 2018. It was a mock drill for the students which gave them clear idea about how to fill up the OMR sheet, pattern of question paper and time management. COMMENCEMENT OF BOARD EXAMINATIONAlong with the Class – X and Class – XII students of CBSE affiliated schools of rest of country, Final Examination for students of AGPS Pahalgam started on 05 March 2018 with the students of class – XII appearing in English Core paper. As school had been the Centre for Examination, all arrangements had been kept in place as per the CBSE guidelines including CCTV surveillance and videography of entire examination process. A total of 57 x students of class – X and 16 x students of Class XII are appearing in All India Secondary School Examination (Class – X) and All India Senior School Certificate Examination (Class – XII) respectively. PARTICIPATION IN TRG PROGRAMME FOR PRINCIPALS AND COORDINATORS Army Goodwill Public School Pahalgam participated in trg capsules for Principals and Coordinators conducted by Bharti Foundation on 06 March 2018 at AGS Khanabal. The event was attended by various Principals and Teachers of AGS’s and AGPS falling under AOR of HQ Victor Force. The event was a part of “Leadership Training for School Management”. Special focus during the training session was given to planning, process and decision making. Mr Ketan Shah, Principal and Mrs Archaha Parashar represented the school in the above said event. VISIT OF CORPS COMMANDER LT GEN A K BHATT, AVSM, SM, VSMLt Gen A K Bhatt, AVSM, SM, VSM paid his maiden visit to school on 19 March 2018 on the sidelines of Army Chief’s visit. The Gen Offr was accompanied by Maj Gen B S Raju, YSM, GOC CIF (V) and Patron of school. Lt Gen A K Bhatt and Patron were received by Brig Balbir Singh, Chairman SMC and Mr. Ketan Shah, Principal. Corps Commander was briefed about the school by Col Sanjeev Saroch, Vice Chairman SMC. Lt Gen A K Bhatt, AVSM, SM, VSM visited Physics Model Room, Computer Museum, Laptop Lab, AV Room and other various blocks of campus and had detailed interaction with students and faculty members. PARTICIPATION OF STUDENTS IN COMPUTER SHIKSHA WORKSHOP AT GURGAON10 x students and 02 x teachers participated in Computer Workshop at Gurgaon Haryana from 12 March - 20 March 2018. The workshop was organised by “Computer Shiksha” a Gurgaon based NGO. “Computer Shiksha” is a Gurgaon based NGO founded by ex-corporate leaders with a mission “To provide Computer Knowledge and Training with passion and commitment, to deliver Value in the form of Computer trained people, who use this skill for the betterment of their lives in every possible way”. The training was aimed to make students to become trainers, i.e., get a glimpse of how to teach in addition to the exposure and devp of comn skills. “Computer Shiksha” provided trg, accn and messing free of cost. A total of 60 x students and 12 x teachers hailing from nook and corners of the country participated in the event.Further the team AGPS visited some educational and historical places in the National Capital after the course for two days. The places include Qutab Minar, Red Fort, Jamia Masjid, India Gate, Jantar Mantar, National Science Museum, National Zoological Park, Garden of 5 Senses and Akshardham Temple. Taking further the process of implementation Digital Edn Pgme in AGPS, Extra Marks conducted a day long Tab Training programme for the students. Students were made familiar with the operational techniques of tab and browsing of content available within the tab. The training was conducted by Mr Umar, Regional Manager (Trainings) Extramarks Foundation.Students found the Tab Training very fruitful and within no time were using the device and the content in professional way. PARTICIPATION OF CLASS XII STUDENTS IN HPCL SUPER 30 WRITTEN TESTNIEDO the official training partner of ARMY HPCL SUPER 30 project conducted a written test of class – XII (Medical) students at K.V. No 1 Badami Bagh Cantt on 28 Mar 2018. Nine students from AGPS Pahalgam appeared in the test. The test was aimed to select 30 x students for Kashmir Super 30 batch 2018. The selected students are prepared by NIEDO to appear in the NEET Examination. The project is being funded by HPCL and execution is done by Army. Started in 2013, this initiative of Army has acted as a bridge between the children of Kashmir and their admission in reputed professional institutes of the country. CULTURAL EVENINGA Cultural Evening was held on Saturday, 31 March 2018 in the AV Room. Jhelum and Lidder Houses students presented the show which started at 6:00 in the evening. Mrs Rama Shah, Rector of school was chief guest of the event. Students of Lidder House presented the show for first half followed by students of Jhelum House. Students of both the Houses showcased their hidden talent. Solo and group performances in singing, dancing and acting were praiseworthy. To inspire and encourage the students some of the teachers also showcased their talent. FAREWELL TO OUTGOING STAFF A small but impressive function was held in AV Room to bid adieu to the outgoing staff members. The outgoing staff members received a rousing welcome on their arrival at venue. Mr Nazir Ahmad Khan, Vice Principal highlighted the contribution made by outgoing staff members in smooth running of the institution. Students presented a cultural programme depicting the progress of school in all areas concerned. Mrs Rama Shah, Rector of the school presented the mementos to the outgoing staff members. Mrs Tasleema Nabi, the outgoing teacher addressed the students with inspirational words. She thanked SMC, Principal and other staff members for their support during her tenure in school.
